Cassandra Clare si Vanatorii de Umbre

A trecut ceva timp de cand nu am mai citit ceva de Cassandra Clare. Am reusit sa termin primele trei volume din Instrumente Mortale si am apucat sa citesc jumatate din volumul 1 din Dispozitive Infernale. Nu pot spune ca mi-au displacut cartile, dar nici nu sunt in topul titlurilor mele preferate.

Seria Instrumente Mortale (1 – 3) mi s-a parut interesanta, desi influentele Harry Potter s-au resimtit puternic, in special in prima carte. Chiar si asa, lumea Vanatorilor de Umbre este o lume fascinanta cu un univers complex ce abunda de creaturi mitologice. Au fost intr-adevar si parti pe care le-am suportat, dar nu au iesit cu mult in evidenta deci am trecut usor peste.

Am ales sa nu trec mai departe la volumul 4 pentru ca seria trebuia sa fie o trilogie initial si s-a si terminat ca atare. Da, au ramas cateva intrebari la sfarsitul cartii 3, dar nu foarte apasatoare, nu indeajuns incat sa ma faca sa trec mai departe. Dar probabil cel mai mult m-au deranjat zvonurile in legaturacu relatiile personajelor.

Mi-a placut si Dispozitive Infernale, si da, vorbesc despre jumatatea de carte pe care am apucat sa o citesc. Poate nu am citit indeajuns de mult incat sa ma atasez de personaje, dar m-a incantat faptul ca seria este steampunk si desi povestea este tot a Vanatorilor de Umbre, simplul fapt ca are loc intr-un alt timp m-a atras.

Dupa cum am mai zis, a trecut ceva timp de cand nu am mai citit ceva de Cassandra Clare, dar abia azi mi-am dat seama cat de mult am ramas in urma cu noutatile despre autoare.

Seria Instrumentelor Mortale se apropie de sfarsit, volumul sase urmand sa fie lansat pe 27 Mai, 2014, in timp ce Dispozitive Infernale a avut deja de un final in vara anului trecut. Tot anul acesta in Noiembrie apare volumul The Bane Chronicles, o colectie de 10 povesti avandu-l ca personaj principal pe Magnus Bane, care este probabil personajul meu preferat.

In timp ce eu stiam doar de cele doua serii: Instrumente Mortale si Dispozitive Infernale, autoarea a anuntat ca are de gand sa mai lanseze inca trei serii ce au loc tot in universul Vanatorilor de Umbre. Nu stiu daca e neaparat de bine sau nu ca autoarea sa insiste pe aceeasi poveste, dar cu personaje diferite. Multi sunt de parere ca ar trebui sa incerce sa se indeparteze de acest univers si sa isi concentreze energia si talentul pe ceva nou si diferit.

Apoi am incercat sa ma pun in locul fanilor si mi-am dat seama ca probabil daca ar fi fost vorba de Harry Potter nu as fi vrut sa se termine vreodata. Sunt fericita totusi ca s-a terminat cum s-a terminat, am apreciat ceea ce a scris J.K. Rowling si probabil as fi continuat sa le citesc.

Recenzie Film: Divergent (2014)

Pe o piata cinematografica oarecum saturata de distopii si-a facut loc si Divergent, romanul de debut al Veronicai Roth. In ciuda asemarilor cu trilogia The Hunger Games sau The Maze Runner, Divergent a reusit sa atraga publicul cu o poveste unica, cu element deosebit – un divergent.

Cu actiunea proiectata intr-un Chicago apocaliptic unde pacea domneste de aproape 100 de ani in mare parte datorita sistemului de guvernare, intalnim o lume structurata in cinci factiuni, fiecare cu propriile reguli si virtuti:

Abnegatie – cei care fac partedin aceasta factiune sunt cei care cred ca omenirea a esuat din cauza invidiei, lacomiei si a vanitatii.

Candoare – ii gasim pe cei onesti, ce spun adevarul indiferent de situatie si cei ce dispretuiesc omenii duplicitari.

Prietenie – sunt caracterizati de bunastare si liniste. Sunt pasnici, iubitori si buni la suflet. Vad in omeni setea de putere si agresivitatea.

Eruditie – sunt persoane insetate de cunoastere, seriosi, inteligenti, care considera ca oamenii sunt ignoranti.

Neinfricati – principalele caracteristici definitorii sunt curajul si indrazneala. Cei care fac parte din aceasta factiune cred ca problemele omenirii provin din lasitate. Menirea lor este sa pazeasca si sa protejeze orasul inconjurat de zid.

Insa pe langa aceste grupari regasim si persoanele fara factiune, cei izolati de comunitate datorita imposibilitatii lor de a trece de probele de initiere sau cei care au plecat de bunavoie. Deasemeni, cei cu spirit liber si dorinta de libertate care se impotrivesc regulilor sistemului sunt exclusi din societate.

Eroina, intruchipeaza tipul adolescentului cuprins de panica atunci cand in fata i se asterne un viitor incert. Nascuta in Abnegatie, Betrice a stiut intotdeauna ca este speciala si in urma ceremoniei de alegere a faciunii ea alege Neinfricare din dorinta de afirmare. Insa lumea pe care o gaseste aici nu este nici pe departe ce si-a imaginat.

In prima parte a filmului, regizorul ne-a tinut in suspans cu creionarea portretului eroinei, prelungind astfel drumul catre actiunea propriu zisa. Insa asteptarea a meritat. Scenele de actiune au fost foarte bine realizate si cu toate astea au fost destul de scurte. Finalul a fost interupt brusc, facandu-ma sa ma intreb daca nu cumva cei de la cinema au gresit rola cu filmul. Un plus au fost si scenele derulate in vis. Mi-au adus aminte de Inception, Limitless si The Illusionist.

Divergent este un film cu actori mai putin cunoscuti, insa am fost placut surprinsa sa aflu ca Kate Winslet va juca in film. Cred insa ca rolul ei merita exploatat mai mult. Publicul insa va sustine actorii si deja numarul fanilor creste vazand cu ochii.

Mergeti la film daca nu cumva ati fost pana acum. Dupa parerea mea merita vazut.

Alec walked through the front door of Lucy and Rene’s third-floor apartment. Alec loved the open feel of their apartment—the ceilings opened to the roof peak, and skylights offered sunlight down into the room even on cloudy days. Rough-hewn wooden beams crossed the ceiling from wall to wall, where the wall met the roofline, affording the apartment an industrial chic look.
Celeste and Lucy sat on the couch. Alec felt a certain apprehension as he entered the room and Celeste and Lucy looked up (and it almost seemed planned to Alec) smiling in a too friendly manner. “Where’s Adam?” Celeste said.
“On his way,” Alec said and squatted on the floor next to Sam and Rene. “‘Sup?”
They both nodded. “Just chilling right now,” Rene said, and they bumped fists.
“Sandman,” Sam added. “Lucy was just telling us about her master’s thesis on semiotics.” Sam flashed him a “save us” look.
Alec stifled a smirk. “My sister loves anthropology.”
“And languages,” Lucy corrected.
“Hey, I hope you don’t mind, but I invited my friend to join us,” Celeste said.
Alec felt the muscles in his back go rigid. “Look, guys, we talked about this. I don’t—”
Sam cut in, “Jared’s cool.”
A quizzical look crossed Rene’s face as he watched the exchange, then he shrugged as his eyes met Alec’s.
Alec heard footsteps on the stairs outside. “That’s Adam coming. I’ll give him a hand.”
“I didn’t hear anything,” Rene said.
“He’s got fucking bat ears, man,” Sam said.
Alec crossed the long living room to the front door. “Need a hand, Adam?” He asked as he yanked the door open. A young man, about his own age, (maybe a little older, Alec thought) stood at the door with his hand raised, about to knock. A plain white V-neck tee shirt hugged his torso, and Alec could see sprouts of chest hair in the V. Black rimmed glasses framed his eyes and his glossy dark hair was parted on the side and slicked back. His scruffy beard added an air of carelessness to an otherwise polished look.
His eyes met Alec’s and his face brightened with a warm smile that made his green eyes sparkle. “Knock, knock,” he said.
Alec leaned out the door, “I was expecting my brother.”
“Jared,” the young man said, extending his hand.
Alec shook it. “Nice to meet you.” Alec turned his head, quickly shooting a narrow-eyed glance at Lucy and Celeste. They both blinked innocently. He turned back to Jared. “Celeste said you were coming.”
“Ah, she warned you.”
“Did I need warning?”
Jared gave another easy smile. “Perhaps.”

Review:

I am really glad that I had the chance to read this book. I finished it quite fast, it only took me about two hours and it kept me interested the entire time. In case you haven’t realized yet, this is a book, Blissfire has ten short stories about life and its disappointments and unfulfilled dreams and mainly how every person is different and copes with all of these in a different manner.

Blissfire is rather a dark reading, but then again this so is real life so I can’t help but comparing it to raw, unedited life unlike many other books I read so far. There’s not a matter of a happy ending in everyone’s life, that’s what this is about or this is how I see it.

There is a common theme for all these stories, but it’s brought up in different ways, some are darker, others are not and some may have a slightly positive ending while others are on the verge of being tragic.

There is one story that successfully shocked me and it’s called Her. This is the story of a young couple in love and in one day, when everything seemed normal the story ends. This story deals with death. The main character losses the love of his life because she was killed in front of his eyes. I literary forgot to breath while I was reading it and it sent me chills down my spine. It had that kind of violence that only humans are capable of and it just scared me because that was a “could happen” situation.

Blissfire was an amazing, profound reading in which, at least in some parts I could find myself.

Noile editii Jocurile Foamei de Suzanne Collins

Nu e mare secret că  îmi plac cărtile. Dacă nu  îmi plăceau probabil că nu aveam un mini-blog de cărți. Îmi place să le citesc, dar ador și să le admir. Şi dacă stau bine să mă gandesc foarte multe titluri le-am cumparat din cauza copertelor, deși de multe ori  încerc să mă ghidez după preț. La urma urmei nu contează aspectul foarte mult, ci conținutul, nu?
Îmi spun asta de fiecare dată când editura Nemira scoate câte o ediție nouă a unei serii care  îmi place. Asta s-a  întamplat de curând cu Jocurile Foamei de Suzanne Collins. Am reușit cu greu sa  îmi iau prima ediție apărută la editură și până când am reușit să mi-o cumpăr pe toată apăruse deja ediția hardcover cu niște coperte,  în opinia mea, mult mai frumoase. M-am abținut cu greu să nu le cumpar și am putut  înțelege nevoia de a lansa o edițite hardcover.

Însă de curând,  în caz că nu ați aflat, editura Nemira a lansat o a treia ediție, tot paperback, dar de această dată coperta este asemanatoare cu cea originala pe care o ador. Mi-ar fi plăcut ca editura să scoată o singură variantă de copertă pe care o să printeze și pe paperback și pe hardcover. Așa nu aș mai fi fost dezamagită că am seria, dar cu design-ul greșit.

Alte exemple:
Jocurile Foamei nu este singura serie care a avut onoarea de a apărea  în ediții multiple, fanii cărților Cântec de Gheată și Foc au parte de aceeași soartă pentru că Nemira a publicat trei variante ale copertelor, ultima versiune fiind aceeași cu originalul apărut peste hotare care la fel, mi se pare superbă.

Lăsând totusi la o parte confuzia si frustrarea atunci cand vine vorba de coperte, titlurile aduse de editura Nemira sunt printre cele mai bune de pe piața romanească și din punctul acesta de vedere, nu dezamăgește.
Voi cum procedați atunci când seria voastră preferată apare cu o altă copertă care vă place mai mult ca cea pe care o aveti deja in bibliotecă?

A început şcoala

A început şcoala. Presupun că nu este un eveniment uşor de trecut cu vederea şi mulţi sunt dezamagiţi că s-a terminat vacanţa. Nu încerc să arunc cu încurajări în stânga şi în dreapta, dar atunci când o să terminaţi şcoala vă garantez eu că o să vă fie dor. Nu neaparat de ore şi profesori, deşi nu toţi sunt răi, poate şi de anumiţi colegi, de pauze şi de vacanţe. Da o să aveţi concediu şi colegi noi la muncă, dar niciodată nu e acelaşi lucru. Nu mulţi te consideră prieten când încearcă să lupte pentru o promovare.

Cred că imi este dor de ceea ce înseamna şcoala, faptul că învam lucruri noi şi oricât de mult uram un obiect mă străduiam să le înteleg şi mă simţeam bine când reuşeam. Adevărul este că nici eu nu mă omoram după şcoală, dar nu observăm cât de mult ne place de fapt decât după ce o terminăm.

Lucrurile erau mult mai uşoare, acum că pot privi înapoi. Imediat ce treci de pragul de 20 de ani toată lumea se aşteaptă să ştii lucruri, dar nu prea multe pentru că eşti prea tânar. Trebuie să fii bun la muncă, dar nu poţi excela pentru că eşti totuşi tânăr şi mai ai de învăţat. Totuşi nimeni nu mai are răbdare să te înveţe pentru că deja e prea târziu să mai bagi informaţii noi în căpuşorul ăla mic. Şi da, lumea reală este plină de contradicţii.

Toţi sunteţi atât de ocupaţi să vă plângeţi că a început şcoala încat nu vă daţi seama că asta este partea placută. Aveţi ocazia să vă duceţi într-un loc în care staţi cu prietenii cel puţin şase ore pe zi. Aveţi pauze şi vacanţe şi vă puteţi duce la evenimente împreuna (fie că sunteţi obligaţi de diriginte sau nu, într-un final e tot amuzant).

Review:

Hello everyone, I am sorry for being so late with the review, but I had to interview my niece, Roxana about her favorite parts in the book.

Ok, so this was my first time reading a book with short stories, but giving the fact that these are all stories for children I was not afraid that I might be stuck on a cliffhanger at every end of a story. Do you remember those funny little stories when at the end of them you had to actually learn something? The Funny Adventures of Little Nani was exactly that kind of book.

Every story is entertaining and funny, written in a style easy to understand by kids or those (like me) that don’t speak English as a primary language. I had to translate some of the stories to my niece but she loved them all.

My opinion:

It was fun to read all those little stories, even as an adult. I loved Little Nani and all her good intentions gone wrong and I absolutely loved how the author implemented in the story modern elements. Little Nani finished an online course and she ordered herself a wand. In fact one of her solutions (an actual spell gone wright) was a computer, which was the best idea at the time.

Her friends, Big Billy, Skinny Nikki and Horse are always present in her adventures, although the first two are turned into ostriches. Horse is a bookahoolic, just like me. I can understand his need to read book after book and I think he is my favorite character. His relation with Nani reminds me of me and my sister: I always try to convince her to read and she always has better things to do.

Roxana’s opinion:

Favorite story?

Roxana’s favorite story was Little Nani and the caffeine-addicted Zombie and her favorite character from it was the zombie. She liked that Little Nani was not mean with the zombie even though he was ugly, but she thinks that it was not nice of him to barge in Nani’s house like he did.

What did Roxana learn from her favorite story?

From Little Nani and the caffeine-addicted Zombie she learned that you must always be nice to everyone even if they are not pretty and that coffee is not for children apparently is just for zombies and parents.

Favorite part of the book?

Her favorite part of the book was when she made the giant muffin and gave muffins to all her friends.

Ok, this was a rather odd review, but this was a children’s book and Roxana wanted to tell her opinion. Also she draw two things, but doesn’t want to show them. Lol
